When to Take Protein Shakes

Finding muscle building and weight loss help is easy to do, but the real challenge is finding the method that really works for you. Many diets and exercises (or combinations of both)provide very quick loss, and give the user the thought that it works great. But sometimes these are too strenuous or time consuming and the user goes back to eating fatty foods and being overweight; also, people's bodies can get used to these too quickly and make it so that they are ineffective.

To build muscle one can't simply cram a truckload of protein down their throats, if they do their body will reach its limit of needed protein and the rest will give them a gassy or bloated stomach. To use protein the right way, the right amount needs to be used at a time that properly coincides with a work out. Timing protein intake is essential for gaining muscle mass.

To reduce the amount of muscle mass that is broken down, it is good to intake protein that is slow to digest. This way, the body has a longer storage of protein and does not need to tap into the muscles to get it. The best way to get slow digesting protein is through whole foods, shakes are good but simply do not have as good of a slow digesting protein by whole food. A shake is good to compliment the whole foods though. A protein shake can be consumed no sooner than 5 minutes after a meal, and should not be taken any later than 30 minutes.

It is always good to consume protein after working out too. The body naturally wants to increase muscle strength if it thinks it is necessary, that is why muscles are made to intake protein and build themselves up if they are strained. If one consumes protein after a workout the muscles will have a stored amount of protein to build off of.

Of course the easiest way to lose weight is simply to be more active and eating food that is good for you. If someone is not active to begin with, it is very beneficial to find something that they love, and will help their body too. There are many people out there who were out of shape but now run marathons, just because they found out that they love doing it. It is all about enjoying yourself and being active at the same time. If you don't like going to the gym, its not a great idea to keep going just to like the way that you look. This is because eventually you will say that it is not worth it to keep doing something that you don't like. In any case knowing when to take protein shakes can greatly assist in your fitness goal.
